GROWTH IN SALEOF JAPANESE WORD PROCESSORS SLOWED TO 3.8% IN 1987

The Office Machine Industry Association has put out figures that suggest that the previous rapid growth in specialised Japanese word processors slowed to just 3.8% in 1987 by number – 2.25m units, and 9.9% by value – to $1,640m; by comparison, in 1986, the market grew 117.7% in unit terms, 31% by value; 1985 saw even faster growth of unit sales – 336%.
