GROWTH IN DOMESTIC PHONE LINES EXPECTED TO INCREASE

The growth in the number of second phone lines in the US, driven by demand for online internet access and home working, is growing at an average annual rate of 20%, and according to International Data Corp, will continue to grow strongly throughout 1998, gradually tapering off as newer technologies, such as cable modems and ADSL asymmetrical digital subscriber lines start to take off.
