GROWING SHORTAGE OF 16-BIT PCS IN JAPAN

But according to Newsbytes Japan, there is a growing shortage of 16-bit personal computers in Japan as a result of the worldwide shortage of memory chips – and Japanese manufacturers no doubt shipping the chips they do have to markets where they have most to lose: the NEC PC-9801 market leader is currently shipping in quantities of over 50,000 a month, more than at any time since it was launched some five years ago – yet most are spoken for and few retailers have any of them in stock.
