Groupe Focal, a Lyon, France IT services company, has paid an undisclosed sum for Alias Informatique SA, another services company, with headquarters in Paris.

Focal, which is quoted on the Second Marche in Paris, has operations in system and network management, applications development and enterprise resource planning systems integration. The Alias buy brings it expertise in client-server environments, particularly in the AS/400, Oracle and SQL Server markets. Focal reported a net profit for 1998 up 61.6% at 3.6m euros ($3.8m) on revenue that rose 48% to 56.8m euros ($61m). For this year, it has set itself a revenue target of 100m euros ($106m) and a net profit of 6.6m euros ($7m). Alias is expected to contribute some $5m of revenue this year.
