GRID COMPUTER SYSTEMS INTRODUCES THE NEW GRIDCASE 1500s, GRIDCASE PLUS

Grid Computer Systems Ltd duly in-troduced the new 80C286 and 80386 GridCase 1500s and GridLite Plus (CI No 795) in the UK yesterday; as if competing with Amstrad on price and timing wasn’t bad enough, Grid managed to hold its press conference in the same venue as Amstrad – the Cafe Royal – at the same time; the switchable 4.77/8MHz 80C86 GridLite Plus has a 640 by 200 Supertwist LCD screen, 128K RAM, expandable to 640K, 1.4Mb hard drive, and 1Mb of ROM with space for 8 slots and comes in at UKP1,395; options include 2,400 baud modem, 80C87 co-processor and removable/rechargeable NiCad batteries; the 80C826 and 80836 1500s are UKP2,495 and UKP3,395 respectively; the top-end machine will be out in January, the other two in December; Dupont in the US has already placed an order for 150 80C86 GridCase 1500s.
