Greggs along with Marks & Spencer has come up as the most interconnected brand in the UK high street for offering the best quality free Wi-Fi.

According to a report titled, ‘Making Connections: Wi-Fi on the UK High Street’ by wireless networking company Devicescape, retail and ‘food on the go’ sectors were the ones to offer best quality Wi-Fi.

The sectors were closely followed by restaurants, banks, and coffee shops which mostly attracts attract nomadic workers.

The report ranked the brands according to a combination of the quality of their Wi-Fi the companies provided and the ease with which could be accessed.

Companies like Boots and Asda also attained top positions when it came to offering quality Wi-Fi.

The company gathered sample of more than 100,000 Devicescape-enabled smartphones, and sampled the free Wi-Fi at a host of leading brand locations across the UK.

Devicescape director of marketing Mike Hibberd said: "The real takeaway here is not that Greggs has better Wi-Fi than the next brand but that the quality of high street Wi-Fi in the UK is really very good across the board.

"At the very least the connectivity offered by the brands we’ve listed, and many more we have not, is good enough to stream video to a smartphone."
