Fresh from its deal with Tatung Co under which the Taiwanese company will offer its existing X Window System terminals with its workstations (CI No 1,484), GraphOn Corp, San Jose, California, which released a low-cost OptimaX X-terminal last year, has unveiled a new 21 offering, the GraphOn 21, with a resolution of 1,280 by 1,024 and 70MHz refresh rate. GraphOn differs from other X-terminal players by making the host system, not the terminal, run the X server software, and the terminal uses the host’s RAM. The GraphOn 21 is $2,000, the X server software is $400. A smaller brother of the new terminal has also been introduced – the GraphOn 14 – which costs $1,000.
