Government grant scheme to support IT businesses

The voucher scheme aims to improve internet and network connectivity across the UK.

By Kate Heslop

M247, a data centre and internet infrastructure firm based in Manchester, has announced that it’s now offering special connectivity deals as part of a Government grant scheme that’s only recently been rolled out in highly connected locations across the UK.

The Broadband Delivery UK Connection Voucher scheme is part of a strategic plan to improve internet and network connectivity across the entire country, but for now the grant is only currently available in the 22 of the most connected cities around the UK. The scheme provides financial support to businesses who are located in these cities.

The voucher, worth a maximum of £3000 per application, will allow qualifying businesses and 3rd sector organisations, such as not-for-profit and non-governmental organisations, to make improvements to their internet connectivity, either by upgrading or by installing a new system.

This plan will aim to make significant improvements to connectivity around the UK and the Government says it plans to maintain the scheme until March 2015.
