Like rivals YouTube and Yahoo Video, Google’s service lets users upload and share video content. There are no limits on file size and videos can be linked to blogs and web communities such as MySpace. Users can also rate and recommend videos.
Google has signed deals with several media companies including ITN, Disney, and the rights holders to Wimbledon and the Football League to provide content for the site.
Both amateur and professional video uploaders can decide whether to charge for their clips. The site is funded by adverts that play alongside the videos.
