Distributed content will include four and five minute clips of MTV’s Laguna Beach and Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants. Revenue from the ad-supported videos will be split between the companies and the website or blog publisher.
Google currently places ads on blogs and websites as part of its AdSense network, which made $2.7 billion in revenue for Google last year.
The MTV deal will also include distribution of full-length TV episodes on Google’s video portal for $1.99, including JackAss and Comedy Central’s South Park. MTV has a similar agreement with Apple’s iTunes.
