According to a Financial Times news report, the video service is to be known as Google Video Store and will work on a pay-per-download basis. Users will be required to download a Google media player to access the content.

The Financial Times claimed that content available through the service is likely to include CBS shows, Sony BMG shows and content from the US National Basketball Association. Furthermore, the video store is expected to act as something of a digital marketplace, where owners can submit as much content as they like.

As consumer demand for entertainment-on-demand grows, Google is branching into ever more innovate media dimensions. There seems little doubt that its latest offering will prove a hit.
