Google Sites topped the explicit core search market in December 2011 in the US with 65.9% of search queries conducted on them, according to comScore’s monthly comScore qSearch analysis of the US search marketplace.

Google Sites increased its market share as they rose by 0.5% compared to the previous month of November. It was followed by Microsoft Sites with 15.1% and Yahoo! Sites with 14.5%. Ask Network and AOL took the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

The number of explicit score searches conducted in December was over 8.2bn, an increase of 2% compared to November. Google Sites ranked first with 12bn, increase of 3%, followed by Microsoft Sites with 2.7bn, registering an increase of 2% and Yahoo! Sites with 2.6bn.

Google Sites led the core search queries segment, with 66.1% share, followed by Yahoo! Sites with 16.2% and Microsoft Sites with 13.8%.

December saw 20.5bn total core search queries being conducted, which was an increase of 3% over the previous month. Google Sites accounted for 13.6bn searches, a 4% increase, followed by Yahoo! Sites with 3.3bn, a 2% increase and Microsoft Sites with 2.8bn, a 2% increase.
