Google celebrates New Year with a boogie

Doodle shows ‘2013’ numbers disco dancing.

By Joe Curtis

Disco dancing numbers have begun celebrating the New Year in the latest doodle to adorn Google’s homepage today.

In the Saturday Night Fever-esque animation, the characters forming ‘2013’ boogie on the dancefloor while the number four waits its turn off stage.

Even the second ‘o’ in Google has become a glitter ball as the smiling numbers dance the night away on New Year’s Eve.

As with all Google’s Doodles, clicking on the animation takes you through to listings of NYE-themed events and news, with the Berlin Philharmonic’s New Year’s Eve Gala being included on a list of cinema showings, and year roundups from newspapers.
