Google has acquired the popular app Bump for an undisclosed fee, according to the app’s CEO.
David Lieb, Bump co-founder, blogged that the search engine has bought the company – adding that the app will continue to work as it always has for the time being.
He wrote: "We couldn’t be more thrilled to join Google, a company that shares our belief that the application of computing to difficult problems can fundamentally change the way that we interact with one another and the world."
Bump allows users to tap phones together to exchange information like contacts, photos and files, and has raised $20m over the past five years.
The acquisition is the first Google has made since paying around $1.3bn for Waze, the mapping app, in June.
