Goodyear introduces RFID to NASCAR

US radio tagging company Advanced ID Corporation has been collaborating with Goodyear Vehicle Systems to develop and manufacture the RFID tags which will be embedded in the tires of all the cars during the 2006 NASCAR season.

By CBR Staff Writer

The tags will allow Goodyear to monitor the use and distribution of the tires, ensuring that teams do not test any more than allowed. It is hoped this will provide a more level playing field for the forthcoming season.

Advanced ID said that the RFID tags had been specifically developed to endure the extremely harsh environment of NASCAR racing, and that it would continue to manufacture them throughout 2006.
