GOOD AND BAD NEWS FOR CPU COMPUTERS

By CBR Staff Writer

The bad news from CPU Computers Plc is that the energetic Rod Saar, widely credited with having revitalised the company following the damage done by loss of the exclusive Shugart distributorship and subsequent successful litigation by CPU, is understood to be leaving the company on February 13: the good news is that as we closed for press last night, the thorny problem of the future of the LSI Computers Octopus micro manufacturing unit was on the brink of resolution, with the most widely expected outcome being sale of the customer base and assets if not the whole operation, to Technology for Business Plc; there have been a number of lay-offs and one or two resignations at LSI since the news of Saar’s impending departure broke.
