International investment banking and securities firm Goldman Sachs & Co has invested in German document management software operation iXOS Software AG, giving it an 18% stake. iXOS plans to use the investment to help it expand beyond its German home ground. The Munich-based company, which reported revenues of around $45m last year, has strong links with fellow German operation SAP AG, supplying document management software for the company’s R/3 software. SAP owns 10% of the company. Founders and employees at iXOS currently own 60% of the company, and co-founder Hans Strack-Zimmermann has expressed his belief in the importance of the company retaining a majority interest. The company forecasts that next year’s revenues will hit around $56.6m, or 100 DM, with 50% of that figure generated from business outside of Germany.
