The San Francisco-based company developer of software that synchronizes transactional data across databases and enterprise systems says that Athens will use its technology in future disaster recovery and cyber-security projects.
GoldenGate hopes the move will give it a firmer foothold in the public sector – an area which Athens also focuses on.
Both companies currently have several joint customers.
GoldenGate’s technology moves high volumes of data in sub-second timeframes and manages complex transactions in real-time. The technology is being used by companies like Bank of America, Visa and Dell to support critical applications like high-availability and compliance.
Austin, Texas-based Athens is an interesting firm. The company was set up a decade ago to plan an IT disaster recovery strategy for the Atlanta 1996 Olympic games. More recently it was also involved in the White House’s recent national strategy to secure cyberspace.
