The service, slated to begin in December 2007 with Fox 5 NY, will enable their viewers to join via web or directly via their cell phones, and select their school or organization for emergency notification. The alerts will notify registrants of school closings, early dismissals, medical outbreaks and emergency warnings.
Mitchell Leiser, strategic business director of GoIP, said: Our goal is to build an interactive mobile media platform for Fox. This initial program will seed the groundwork for other mobile initiatives to come, building upon a receptive mobile friendly community.
