Global mobile broadband revenues from the enterprise segment for cellular connectivity of laptops, netbooks, and media tablets is expected to reach $36bn by 2016, according to a new report by ABI Research.

The research highlighted that the increase in the enterprise mobile broadband revenues will be enhanced by the connections for the high growth media tablet segment.

ABI Research said that currently enterprise penetration of tablets is low; however relative to other big-screen portable computers, tablet mobile broadband attach rates are high.

The research firm said that as per a recent data of US business customers, mobile broadband attach rates on media tablets are 33% higher than netbooks and twice as high as laptops.

ABI Research enterprise practice director Dan Shey said favorable pricing and plan options have made it easy for early adopters in the sales, management and professional services segment to add cellular plans; pricing will also be incredibly important as more field force personnel are mobilised.

Geographically, North America and the Asia-Pacific region will register high share of mobile broadband revenues from media tablets.

In North America, 4G network will be the growth driver while in Asia-Pacific growth will be driven by a dynamic business market and mobile device-savvy culture, the research firm said.
