Get your Surface Pro 3 fixed in August’s update

Microsoft issues a number of firmware fixes for the powerful tabtop.

As part of August’s Microsoft update, the firm as issued a number of firmware to fixes to its Surface Pro 3 tablet, as well as the original Surface Pro and the Surface RT.

As of yesterday, Surface tablet users can expect improved system stability, along with improved Internet Explorer functionality and enhanced battery performance.

The full list of firmware updates includes:

– Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware (v38.4.50.0) improved support for Surface Power Cover.

– Surface Pro System Aggregator Firmware (v3.9.250.0) improved support for Surface Power Cover and enhances overall system stability.

– Microsoft LifeCam Front (v5.20.1034.0) significantly improves power consumption during video chat such as Skype, supports Flash camera streaming in Internet Explorer, and improves overall functionality and stability.

– Surface Ethernet Adapter (v8.14.0704.2014) improved support for the gigabit Surface Ethernet Adapter.

The updates will not be available immediately to all users. Microsoft said: "When Surface updates are provided via the Windows Update service, they are delivered in stages to Surface customers. As a result, not every Surface will receive the update at the same time, but the update will be delivered to all devices."

Updates to the Surface Pro included a Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth fix, which improves network connection stability and enables functionality on WiFi networks using a hidden SSID.

Surface RT users got an update called Surface RT UEFI (v3.31.500) which enhances overall system stability.

There were no updates for the Surface Pro or Surface Pro 2 this month.
