The Daily Telegraph’s City Diary is becoming a goldmine of jolly tales, such as the one about the Gestetner Holdings Plc salesman from South Africa, flying into Heathrow on his honeymoon: he was most touched to see a chauffeur holding up a sign saying Gestetner, and muttered a grateful vote of thanks to his thoughtful British colleagues as the limousine whisked him to his hotel – leaving the managing director of Gestetner Canada fuming at the airport as he looked in vain for the driver he’d been promised.
