German software developer MB Software AG anounced yesterday it had bought 80% of Hannover-based multimedia software house Reakktor Media GmbH for an unspecified sum.

Hameln-based MB’s core competence is software for architects and construction engineers, but it is expanding into visualization and internet-related packages. Its acquisition of a majority stake in games and multimedia developer Reakktor, however, is part of a strategic move into e-business applications, which will culminate in the launch of a product called 3D-eCommunity in the third quarter of this year.

MB Software floated on Frankfurt’s Neuer Markt small-cap exchange in November last year, amassing an acquisition fund as part of its strategy of achieving revenue of DM100m ($56m), up from DM60m ($33m) in 1998.

As such, it has been on the acquisition trail of late, having last month bought another software developer for the architectural market, RIB Bausoftware GmbH from Stuttgart, and, in January, Speedikon Facility Management AG, from Bensheim.
