Data center automation software house Beta Systems Software AG, based in Berlin, has acquired eight year-old Canadian firm QMaster Software Solutions Inc of Calgary, on undisclosed terms. QMaster, with around 400 customers worldwide, has developed two Unix and Windows NT-based software products, QMaster Batch and QMaster Print, for process management and printer management, and Beta will combine the technology with its own OS/390 software for IBM mainframes. Batch will be offered with the Beta 42 Process Scheduling Manager, and Print will be used to extend the Beta Document Management product line into Unix and NT markets. Beta is publicly traded on the Frankfurt Neuer Market, and has 2,500 worldwide installations, a 60% market share in Germany and 25% in Western Europe. Its US headquarters is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
