A group of German television broadcasters and newspaper publishers are challenging an internet information service created by an alliance between German broadcaster ZDF and an alliance made up of Microsoft Corp and US news network NBC – MSNBC. The venture known as ZDF.online provides news from the web on politics, sports, business and weather. Concern has been voiced that the service will have an unfair disadvantage as it combines the power of the software giant with a vast back catalogue of public broadcasting material from ZDF.
