As part of a group called TIS, Siemens AG, IBM Corp, and Deutsche Telkom AG’s IT services subsidiary T-Systems, will launch a bid for an estimated E6.5 billion ($8.5 billion) contract with the Bundeswehr in February.

The ISIC 21 consortium led by Computer Sciences Corp failed last July in its bid to reach an agreement with the army over a deal to modernize its computing and telecoms infrastructure. CSC spokesperson Frank Schabel told ComputerWire that talks between the two sides broke down because they could not reach an agreement on pricing.

The TIS consortium originally lost out to ISIC 21 with an earlier bid, but a T-Systems spokesperson told ComputerWire that the TIS consortium had modified its latest offer.
