GEORGIA LEGISLATORS REJECT BELLSOUTH LONG-DISTANCE BID

BellSouth Corp’s bid to enter the long-distance telephone business in Georgia has been rejected by state regulators, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported. It said the Georgia Public Service Commission voted 5-0 against the regional Bell last week after concluding that its plans did not meet requirements set down in the Telecommunications Act.
