According to MailFrontier, its product was chosen for its ease-of-use, efficient protection and advanced technology. The university joins other customers such as Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Northcentral University.

The implementation took place because over 30,000 active email users at George Mason experienced an influx of unwanted email, which affected the university’s network processing. Tracy Holt, manager, enterprise messaging for George Mason University, said: As a result of the mail servers having much less load, we are no longer seeing the delays in mail delivery that were once very common.

George Mason University later added MailFrontier’s anti-virus protection, which includes MailFrontier Time Zero Virus program and anti-virus engine technology.

By combining spam, virus, and phishing detection with MailFrontier Gateway, we have a much more flexible infrastructure that can be managed from one place. We also don’t have to make any concessions on performance or effectiveness, since MailFrontier does it all, added Holt.
