Gentia Software Inc today unveils a web-ready version of its enterprise performance management software which the company says will enable organizations to deploy strategic management solutions more rapidly and cheaper than before. The Boston-based company’s Renaissance Balanced Scorecard is a piece of software, jointly developed by Gentia and the consultancy firm Renaissance Worldwide, designed to automate a special enterprise management model called The Balanced Scorecard. Companies use the Scorecard to monitor their business performance against certain focus areas such as customer loyalty, quality, revenue and employee knowledge. The software ties together an open network architecture; a visual development environment; a highly-scalable On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) database; rich text handling and intelligent middleware for data warehouse or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) integration and enterprise-wide deployment. The company’s VP corporate marketing, Mike Gaiss, said the Web-enabled version enables users to perform a variety of functions including; viewing the scorecards, entering or updating information and analyzing it from any Netscape, Hot Java or Internet Explorer browser. But it doesn’t allow users to create new scorecards, he said. Gaiss said Gentia has significantly enhanced the application’s flexibility to enable users to define an unlimited number of perspectives, or focus areas, of the business. He added that Gentia has also extended the scorecard wizard making it quicker and easier to create scorecards.
