GENERAL PATENT NAMES IBM AND US ROBOTICS IN PATENT SUIT

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM Corp and US Robotics Corp have been named in a patent infringement suit by General Patent Corporation International to enforce four of GPC’s patents, which cover specific aspects of personal computer card modems and other computer communications devices. The infringed patents cover designs regarding Connector Interface, Multiple Connector Interface, Programmable Connector and Integrated Connector and Modem. According to GPC’s chairman and chief executive, Alexander Poltorak, the suit against IBM and US Robotics Corp may be followed by suits against other companies it believes are infringing its patents. GPC, which somewhat dubiously describes itself as a technology transfer company is based in Monsey, New York.
