General Automation Inc, Anaheim, is looking at some kind of business combination – sounds like acquisition – with nearby Irvine, California-based WesPac Technologies Corp, which builds the IBM SNA-compatible Syfa systems acquired from Computer Automation Inc. The combination would have annual sales of about $60m. WesPac is profitable with about $12m in annual sales and the General says it is helping it in establishing a new credit facility for $2m or so. In the meantime, WesPac will take on some sub-assembly manufacturing for General Auto’s Pick computer systems as part of the plan to reduce its in-house manufacturing. Final assembly and test will still be done in-house.
