GEC’S BUNDLING OF W T AVERY AND GILBARCO INTO NEW UNIT

By CBR Staff Writer

Dear oh dear, and they’re always so careful about these things on the Wall Street Journal: GEC’s bundling of W T Avery and Gilbarco into a new unit (CI No 984) came out as the electronic meteorology division in Monday’s issue, and we can’t see Lord Weinstock being so incautious as to go into a business like weather forecasting: we suspect that it was a case of a little learning being a dangerous thing, and that a sub who’d never met the word for measurement, thought he’d use some initiative, decided that metrology must just be a typo and changed it.
