GEC TELECOMS HAS TO REPLACE LINE CARDS IN MANY SYSTEM X EXCHANGES FOLLOWING MALFUNCTIONS

GEC Telecommunications Ltd has had to replace the line cards in many System X exchanges installed by British Telecom after they were found to be malfunctioning and misrouting calls – and the fault has not yet been tracked down, according to the Financial Times: the problem affects only GEC exchanges and not ones supplied by Plessey.
