China Telecom and the China National Posts & Telecommunications Appliances Corp have signed a contract with General Electric Co Inc’s GEIS International Inc and Tandem Computers Inc to construct a China Public Electronic Data Interchange Business Network for electronic commerce. It will have nodes in 10 cities – Peking, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Zhengzhou, Xian, Wuhai, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Haikou, and three other cities, Shanghai, Shangdong and Shenzhen, have already chosen the team as providers. Terms were not disclosed.
