Brookfield, Connecticut-based chip photomask supplier Photronics Inc has swooped in and agreed in principle to relieve GEC Plessey Semiconductors Ltd of its internal photomask manufacturing facility in Oldham, Lancashire under a deal in which Photronics will also become the GEC Plc chipmaker’s preferred supplier of photomasks. Assets to be acquired include lithography, inspection, and repair systems. No terms given.
