Mercury Communications Ltd and Coventry-based GEC Plessey Telecommunications Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding under which the former will become the preferred national network-based supplier of the iSDX PABX product range in the UK. The two companies will also be working together to develop specific iSDX-based products exclusively for Mercury. New products covered by the agreement include cordless extension products which begin with the GPT2030 entry-level key system and which will be joined by the iSDX 100 hybrid PABX in October: this will be the first in the range to offer cordless extension option via an interface board and wall-mounted radio transceiver module – a feature to be incorporated into the whole product range by early 1993). It also covers the iSDX, a low-end PABX for 20 to 70 extensions, and will include software upgrades for the iSDX family, including enhanced network management, computer-supported telephony applications, enhanced voice and data integration and Basic Rate ISDN to be marketed by the Cable & Wireless Plc company’s Corporate Customer Systems division.
