The GEC Telecommunications Ltd subsidiary of GEC Plc has set up a new GEC Datacomms division within its Network Systems group, to specialise in marketing GEC’s range of data modems, statistical multiplexors, dial-back security units and X25 packet assembler disassemblers. Its latest product is a V32 high-speed low power consumption modem, the 9632, which features trellis-coded modulation, adaptive equalisation, auto-call and autoanswer to CCITT V25 and V25bis, and local and remote test facilities to CCITT V54. The series supports asynchronous and synchronous devices and is hardware and software configurable.
