We’re not at all surprised that the experience of being wrenched from their familiar position and bundled off into some floating no-man’s-land in the middle of the paper has got the Evening Standard’s City folk all of a tiswas: on Thursday, not only did they attribute British Telecom chairman Iain Vallence’s statements to retired chairman Sir George Jefferson, complete with a pic, (perhaps they lost all their photos of Vallance during the move from the back of the paper) but they had us doing a double take by headlining the Plessey-Ferranti story GEC buys from Ferranti.
