GEC AND ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL LOBBY TO SAVE US NAVY CONTRACT

By CBR Staff Writer

The British government has been loudest in demanding that the US cut its budget deficit, so it is perhaps not surprising that the defence contracts top of the list for cancellation are the ones involving UK companies: GEC Plc and Rockwell International Inc are lobbying to save a $1,000m contract to supply the US Navy with anti-jamming radios – according to the Independent the contract, which could have grown to UKP4,000m, has been zero funded as part of a $32,000m reduction in the Pentagon’s budget.
