MIPS Technologies, a semiconductor design IP company, has announced that GCT Semiconductor, a supplier of Mobile WiMAX services, is leveraging a range of its advanced analog front-ends to support single-chip and chipset services for Mobile WiMAX and WiFi connectivity.
Several of the MIPS analog front-ends (AFEs) for wireless broadband communications are integrated into products that are already shipping. Recently GCT has added a new AFE from MIPS Technologies to its portfolio.
GCT integrated MIPS AFEs into highly-integrated WiMAX and WiFi single chips and chipsets for PCs, PDAs, phones and other devices with wireless broadband communications functionality. The MIPS AFEs are integrated into several GCT products including the GDM7215 single-chip WiMAX plus WiFi integrated circuit; the GDM7205 mobile WiMAX 2.5 GHz Wave 2 single chip; and the GDM7201 WiMAX chipset.
Larry Dano, vice president of product development of GCT Semiconductor, said: MIPS Technologies’s AFEs provide high performance and versatility, and the robustness of the underlying converter technology allows seamless integration and operation of the AFE inside our complex SoCs-helping to speed time-to-market. MIPS’ technologists have deep expertise in broadband communications. Throughout our five year relationship, they always have been available and responsive to requests, collaborating closely with the GCT design team.
