In response to the request from the EEC Commission, the General Agreement on Tariffs & Trade Council in Geneva yesterday voted to establish a panel do investigate the US-Japanese semiconductor pact. The Commission believes that the bilateral pact violates GATT rules on free trade. Separately, President Reagan is set to order 100% tariffs on $300m of Japanese imports tomorrow because of alleged pact violations.
