Close but not quite seems to be the reaction to the Destination home computer with television capability from Gateway 2000 Inc. Seems the Destination’s 31 monitor has no local television decoding circuitry, so the signal must be processed within the computer, generating television pictures that are dimmer, grainier and altogether less impressive than those on a standard television set. The television is also controlled by Windows95 software that gives the option of seeing closed captions but does not enable the viewer to monitor two channels at once or reduce the size of the television window. Also no speakers are built-in or supplied.
