GATEWAY COMMUNICATIONS INTRODUCES HIGH-SPEED WS ETHERNET ADAPTOR

By CBR Staff Writer

Gateway Communications Inc has introduced a new high-speed workstation Ethernet adaptor for MS-DOS micros, saying that at $345 with average throughput of 75.23Kbps, the G/Ethernet WS has the best price-performance ratio of any Ethernet adaptor card on the market: available now, the G/Ethernet WS adaptor with 8Kb RAM is claimed to provide the same functionality and high-speed performance as Gateway’s 40Kb G/Ethernet PC adaptor; it affirms that in benchmark tests with NetWare v2.12 and ELS NetWare II running Perform 2 on a 10MHz 80286-based file server, G/Ethernet WS demonstrated the identical throughput performance as the company’s own industry leading G/Ethernet PC adaptor, which seems to make the latter product a little superfluous.
