GATEWAY 2000 WITHDRAWS PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS

By CBR Staff Writer

Gateway 2000 Inc, North Sioux City, South Dakota, has had to recall two promotional videotapes because an unknown number apparently include about 30 seconds of sexually-explicit content. Gateway says its general product video is known to have been affected and that, as a precaution, it is also recalling its Destination promotional video. The company reckons the offensive material was inserted by a disgruntled employee of a video reproduction supplier. The videos were intended to be sent to consumers that called a toll-free number included in its advertising. It was alerted to the problem by a handful of customers and individuals that received the videos from Gateway over the holidays were advised to destroy the tapes or return them to Gateway at the firm’s expense.
