North Sioux City, South Dakota-based Gateway 2000 Inc notes that the fall in first quarter net profit (figures, page five) resulted from increased expenses driven by higher support costs and expected operational costs associated with Gateway Europe; product transitions and unforeseen changes in the company’s sales mix also increased costs, and warned that some of these issues could continue into this quarter; the shares took it all very badly Friday, plunging $4.9375 to $15.50.
