Gateway 2000 Inc is investing another $40m to create 1,200 new jobs in Ireland, bringing total employment at the North Sioux City, South Dakota company’s Dublin operation to 2,300. Over 700 of the new jobs are to be in the customer interface area – technical support, sales and customer services. The balance will be in manufacturing. The expanded facility in Dublin should be ready for occupation next month, Gateway said. The company, which sells its personal computers direct, plans to expand operations significantly in the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland Austria, Belgium, Eire and Luxembourg and target new European markets over the next three years.
