GATEWAY 2000 ANNOUNCES STOCK SPLIT, MOVE TO BIG BOARD

Gateway 2000 Inc has announced a two-for-one split of its common shares for shareholders of record on June 2, 1997. The PC manufacturer also says the stock has been accepted for listing on the New York Stock Exchange and should begin trading on the Big Board on May 22 under the symbol GTW. Gateway shares have appreciated more than 300% since their initial public offering in December, 1993. The company also authorized a stock repurchase plan for up to 10 million shares, to be issued to employees under stock-based employee benefit plans.
