Microsoft Corp chairman Bill Gates is not looking to win friends and influence people in Armonk: speaking in the Czech Republic, he dismissed IBM Corp’s new OS/2 Warp, saying We don’t need new products to beat OS/2 – OS/2 is more noise than real, because there’s no one developing software for OS/2; as soon as Windows95 shows, people will know that OS/2 is a dead end, because none of the software written for Windows95 will run Gates asserted; OS/2, in a certain sense runs Windows applications simply because they have a licence to our code, and that licence expired last year, and so they will never have Windows95 – so it’s kind of a last gasp, they have six months left.
