GANDALF LICENSES PRODUCTS FOR MANUFACTURE BY ACER NETXUS

By CBR Staff Writer

Is Gandalf Technologies Inc, Nepean, Ontario going to end up being rescued by Taiwan? The data communications equipment maker has been delivering less than sparkling results for what seems a very long time now, but a new Acer Inc unit could markedly improve its fortunes. Acer Netxus Inc was formed in March and doesn’t yet have any products to market, but it has now signed with Gandalf to manufacture several of the Canadian’s high-end telecommunications products. The agreement could lead to other long-term ventures between the two companies in the future, Acer said. As well as taking on some Gandalf products, Acer Netxus is developing its own high-speed local network interface boards and local net switches, which could be on the market by year-end.
