Ottawa, Ontario-based Gandalf Technologies Inc has announced the XBR6204 Ethernet bridge for remote connection. Linked to single or multiple LANline i series remote bridges, the 6402 can be used on dial-up or leased lines, says the company. The 6204’s four serial links can apparently be used in pairs to boost bandwidth and decrease latency through load balancing and packet fragmentation. Combined throughput on serial links one and two is 2.048Mbps, while serial links three and four can provide 256Kbps, says Gandalf, with actual bandwidth multiplied by a factor of eight to one using the company’s compression algorithm. For security, the product uses Gandalf’s own serial number routine. It is shipping now; no prices were given.
